Association Structure

Nursery and Garden Industry New Zealand (NGINZ) is the peak industry body representing nurseries, garden centres, garden product retailers and manufacturers of nursery and garden related products and services.

NGINZ's legal entity, the New Zealand Nursery and Garden Industry Association (NGIA) is an incorporated society and the stakeholder membership body, and is has previously been represented by the brand "Gardening New Zealand", and since 2012 as NGINZ.

While an important part of NGINZ's work, it's sphere of interest goes beyond "gardening". Nursery activities outside of gardening are also an important focus and NGINZ's membership include nurseries operating in revegetation, amenity horticulture and young plant production for vegetable growers, orchardists and porestry producer.

NGINZ has a wholly-owned subsidiary company, Nurserymen's Enterprises Ltd (NEL), that undertakes its operational, promotional and trading activities.

  • Go Gardening Gift Cards and Vouchers - Formally operated under the Gardening New Zealand brand our gift cards and vouchers provide the means for retailer's customers to send gifts to friends and family nationwide with confidence. Card and Voucher funds are secured by a security registration held by an independent trust. Cards and Vouchers may only be transacted by members and are a significant member benefit, a recruiting tool and a source of revenue to the Association.
  • Plant trolleys - A fleet of some 2500 specialist trolleys are provided for plant transportation. The company's role is to arrange the manufacture, hire and maintenance of trolleys and shelves for the collection, transportation and display of plants in, and between, horticultural enterprises.
  • Go Gardening is NGINZ's consumer face. We undertake a range of activities to promote gardening and to encourage the consumption of nursery and garden products at both consumer and commercial level. Prominent among these are Go Gardening magazine, sometimes television advertising, in store point of sale materials, website and email direct marketing.
