Early in the year we determined priority Strategic Plan work for the year through to March 2014. The following comprise areas of major focus:

Nursery and Garden Industry People Plan - Improve the human resource base for nursery and garden industry. Initial focus comprises work with retail and nursery industry training bodies for better delivery of training.

Membership Recruitment - Campaign to grow membership.

Industry Statistics and Data - Developing data that quantifies NGI to identify trends and direct development opportunities.

Production Nursery Farm Development System - Best practice systems for nurseries – work to secure growing participation in this scheme launched in November 2012.

Australian Engagement - Continue work to develop relationship with Australian Association to share resources, expertise and research.

Go Gardening Marketing Plan - Develop comprehensive and consistent approach to encourage consumer participation in gardening and with our member stores. Work to enhance member participation in programme. Phase two includes our gift card programme.

Green Life Matters Marketing Plan - Promoting the benefits plants (and our industry) bring to people, households, communities, society and the environment.

Government Industry Agreements on Biosecurity Incursion - Develop industry plan on partnership with Government on preparing for and managing an incursion of new pests that impact nursery industry. A government mandated process that encompasses joint decision making and cost sharing.

Green Industries Group - Cooperation among like-minded horticulture groups that share areas of common interest.

Commodity Levy - Work to develop an industry wide funding base for projects that bring benefit to all of industry.

Trolley Developments - Improve use and adoption of NGINZ plant trolley system.

Well-Connected - Ensure NGINZ is the “go to” body for government and regulators on matters nursery and garden industry.

Fee Development Plan - Round three of Strategic plan objective to balance membership subscriptions and cost of running the Association.
